Dearfriend

Reconnect with a friend. Via email.

You pick a friend. You both get the same question. You reply, your friend replies. You only get to read each other's answer once both of you have sent yours.

5 questions. Free. No app. Just email.

How it works

Send an email to start@dearfriend.cc and put your friend in CC.

Write whatever you want — it's your invitation.

Your friend gets an email from us explaining what this is. Once your friend says yes, the first question lands Sunday morning.

Your data

We store your email and your answer. That's it. Your answer gets deleted as soon as the reveal goes out. When you're done, everything is gone. No cookies. No tracking. No database that sticks around. Every email has a link to leave and wipe everything. Legal stuff.

Questions people ask

Is it really free?

Yes. No accounts, no subscriptions, no ads. It costs me a few euros a month to run and I'm fine with that.

What if my friend doesn't reply?

Nothing happens. There are no deadlines. The next question only arrives once both of you have replied. It can take a day or a month — your friendship sets the pace.

Can I read my friend's answer before sending mine?

No. That's the whole point. You can only read each other's answers once both of you have replied. It keeps things honest and symmetrical.

How long does the whole thing take?

5 questions, one per week if you both reply quickly. No fixed deadline, so it can stretch over a few weeks or a few months depending on your rhythm.

What happens to my answers afterwards?

Your answer is deleted as soon as the reveal email goes out to both of you. After all 5 questions, your email address is removed too. The only place your conversation lives long-term is in your two inboxes.

Can I do this with more than one friend?

Yes — start a new pair with each friend. Each pair is its own little ritual.
